Brief Summary of OUCS

Oxford University Computing Services (OUCS) is the University's central IT provider. OUCS runs the campus network and central network services including the email service, the Weblearn Virtual Learning Environment, the HFS backup and archive service, and wireless and remote access facilities.

All new University members automatically get an Oxford account which gives them access to a range of services, including email. Account details are sent through the internal post within a couple of working days of the University Card being issued. The central Oxford email service is part of the Nexus service which offers access to a range of features in addition to email (such as calendars, shared address books, and opportunities for collaborative working). Nexus can be accessed in a variety of ways - directly online using a web browser or via a program installed on your computer.
