The Client Relations Team (CRT) team was set up in May 2006 to bring together skills from across the Computing Services Department. The CRT works to ensure University requirements are properly represented in the design of OUCS services. Projects are set up to undertake the following core activities:

  • Gather requirements through conducting interviews and surveys
  • Evaluate existing and new technologies
  • Work with members of the academic community to design software
  • Organize events for practice communities within the University e.g. for project managers, tutors, researchers

1. Projects

The Client Relations Team (CRT) extends the requirements gathering capabilities of the Computing Services department through making personnel available to conduct in-depth interviews, surveys and events. The CRT work is managed through the formation of project teams that bring together skills from across the department. The following is a list of projects conducted so far:

  • The Tools for Projects effort involved working with project managers and administrators to map how technology can be used to reduce the time and effort spent undertaking tasks such as organising meetings and managing staff.
  • The Tools for Teaching project looked at the role technology can play in supporting the core areas of teaching at Oxford, namely assessment, tutorials, and lecturing. The aim of this ongoing project is to inspire tutors at the University to use technology in new and beneficial ways.

The Client Relations Team will continue to refine the outputs from these projects. If you would like to comment on any aspect of the CRT work please contact Howard Noble.

2. Technology guides

The CRT is continuously evaluating how technology can support members of the University. Technology guides have been created to describe how technology can be used to support academic activities at Oxford.

3. College and Department Representatives

The College and Department Representatives scheme has been set up to promote better communication between the Computing Services Department and IT representatives at the units throughout the University.

4. Client Relations Team Wiki

The CRT Wiki is used to record progress on projects, update the Technology Guides and collaborate on writing exercises with other members of the University.
