Hardware Repairs and Upgrades are operated on a cost recovering basis for University members' equipment which cannot be repaired under the terms of the Computer Hardware Breakdown Service. All repairs and upgrades are carried out with a 90 day warranty on parts and labour unless otherwise advised.

Hardware Repairs

for PCs or Apple Macintosh computers, USB memory sticks and external hard drives. Typical repair times are 7 to 14 working days.

Hardware Upgrades

Deficiencies such as insufficient memory or undersized hard disks can be remedied for a cost well below that of a machine replacement. Most manufacturers are catered for and many of the parts available from stock, enabling upgrades to be completed quickly.

Apple Warranty Repairs

The Hardware Repair Service is authorized by Apple Sales International to carry out warranty repairs on Apple Mac computers owned by the University or its members. Fault diagnosis is usually carried out within 1-2 working days of receiving the equipment and, for qualifying warranty repair claims, the job is usually completed within 2-3 working days of the arrival of replacement parts.
