Plagiarism Detection

Plagiarism has been an issue for decades, but undoubtedly the ease of finding and copying information from the Internet has made the issue more prominent. At the same time there are a range of software tools available to help detect plagiarism. Below you will find some reports regarding these resources.

The University of Oxford subscribes to the Turnitin electronic detection service, which can be used by tutors for electronic scanning of submitted essays, or by examiners for checking assessed work. The easiest way to access the service is by using the Assignments tool in the new WebLearn service.

As an alternatively to using WebLearn, one may use Turnitin directly. To obtain a login, email turnitin@oucs.ox.ac.uk Please note this service is not directly available to students, only through a tutor or supervisor.

To help people get started the WebLearn team have developed a WebLearn site dedicated to help and guidance regarding the use of Turnitin at Oxford University.
