This page contains a directory of TCP/IP services offered by OUCS, both official and unofficial. The IP name/number of the machines that offer the service together with relevant port number are also supplied.

These resolvers should be used by all client systems across the university network. Each client should use at least two for redundancy (preferably not resolver0 and resolver1 together, as these are on the same subnet), and there is little reason not to list all three where possible.

If you require zone transfers to a departmental slave server, please contact hostmaster to arrange for access and for your server to receive NOTIFY messages upon updates.

Mail servers which restrict incoming SMTP connections should allow the following netblocks if they wish to receive mail from Oxmail:
An alternative notation for a /28 netmask is 255.255.255.240
Clients which require an outgoing mail server to be defined should use smtp.ox.ac.uk. Mailing Lists are handled via the mail alias maillist.ox.ac.uk
4. SMTP Submission (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol)
SMTP service for users mail clients. Allow the following outbound from your network to allow users to submit mail to smtp.ox.ac.uk
This service is used by 802.1X Authenticators that authenticate users based on the OUCS Remote Access account. Access to these servers is restricted to those registered in the 802.1X Device Registration tool. You must configure both authentication and accounting to both OUCS RADIUS servers.
