1. Introduction

The following instructions apply to to using the Eduroam wireless service on a Blackberry Bold.

We have not tested these instructions for other Blackberry models but we can advise that the Blackberry Curve 9300 (and possibly other OS 6 devices) require the following update to be installed in order to connect to Eduroam:
  • 6.0 bundle 2475 (v6.0.0.546, Platform 6.6.0.207)

The settings you need are:

  1. Security type = EAP-TTLS
  2. Certificate = Comodo AddTrust External CA Root
  3. Inner link security = EAP-MS-CHAP v2
  4. Server Subject / Server San, leave blank
  5. Enter your Remote Access account username followed by @OX.AC.UK and Remote Access password (as set via https://register.oucs.ox.ac.uk/self/remote_access).

Here are some screenshots detailing the connection process.

  1. Enable Wi-Fi

  2. Select 'Set Up Wi-Fi Network'

  3. Click 'Next'

  4. Click 'Scan for Networks'

  5. Wait a few moments

  6. Select 'eduroam'

  7. Enter your Remote Access Credentials

  8. Click 'CA certificate' and select '[Comodo AddTrust External CA Root]'

    Note: If you are using a Blackberry running OS 6 then the certificate is called "AddTrust External CA Root".

  9. Click 'Inner link security' and select 'EAP-MS-CHAP v2'

  10. Click 'Connect'

  11. Wait a few moments

  12. Choose a Profile name

  13. Click 'Finish'

  14. You are now connected! Note your profile name appears top centre
