1. Introduction
The following instructions apply to using the Eduroam wireless service on Fedora distributions of GNU/Linux. If you find an error in the instructions, please contact wireless@oucs.ox.ac.uk, if you have general questions or need other assistance, contact help@oucs.ox.ac.uk
These instructions were compiled using Fedora 11 and NetworkManager Applet 0.7.1 under GNOME.
- In the top menu, select the
NetworkManagericon on the right hand side which resembles two monitors, one behind the other. If you are not connected to any other networks there will be a small red cross present. - From the drop down menu that appears select
[eduroam]from the list of available networks. - In the dialogue box that appears headed
Wireless Network Authentication Required, provide the following information:Wireless security:WPA & WPA2 EnterpriseAuthentication:Protected EAP (PEAP)Anonymous identity: leave blankCA certificate: leave as(None)PEAP version:AutomaticInner authentication:MSCHAPv2Username/Password: Enter your Remote Access account username followed by@OX.AC.UKand password (as set via https://register.oucs.ox.ac.uk/self/remote_access).
- Click the
Connectbutton. - A dialogue will appear asking you to provide a CA certificate. Select
Choose CA Certificate. - A file selection dialogue will appear. Choose the file
/etc/pki/tls/cert.pemby either: - Once connected, the
NetworkManagericon will change to show the signal strength for the Eduroam access point you are connected to.
