Connecting to Eduroam via Ubuntu 13.10

1. Introduction

The following instructions apply to use of the Eduroam wireless service on Ubuntu 13.10 distributions of GNU/Linux, but may also work on other versions. If you have general questions or need other assistance, contact help@oucs.ox.ac.uk

  1. In the top menu, click on the networks icon on the right hand side which resembles a fan.
  2. From the drop down menu that appears, select [eduroam] from the list of available networks

  3. In the dialogue box headed Wi-Fi Network Authentication Required that appears, check the settings match the figure below (if not, change them) and enter your Remote Access account details (not your SSO): your username (append @ox.ac.uk after it) e.g. abcd1234@ox.ac.uk and your remote access account password.

    Click on the Connect button.
  4. If the window labelled No Certificate Authority certificate chosen pops up, click Ignore.

  5. You may see a pop-up warning 'Network service discovery disabled'. This too can be ignored.
