Connecting to Eduroam via Ubuntu 13.10


1. Introduction

The following instructions apply to use of the Eduroam wireless service on Ubuntu 13.10 distributions of GNU/Linux, but may also work on other versions. If you have general questions or need other assistance, contact

  1. In the top menu, click on the networks icon on the right hand side which resembles a fan.
  2. From the drop down menu that appears, select [eduroam] from the list of available networks

  3. In the dialogue box headed Wi-Fi Network Authentication Required that appears, check the settings match the figure below (if not, change them) and enter your Remote Access account details (not your SSO): your username (append after it) e.g. and your remote access account password.

    Click on the Connect button.
  4. If the window labelled No Certificate Authority certificate chosen pops up, click Ignore.

  5. You may see a pop-up warning 'Network service discovery disabled'. This too can be ignored.
