1. Instructions
The following instructions apply to using the Eduroam wireless service on Microsoft Vista machines. A separate page offers instructions for Connecting to EDUROAM via Microsoft Vista with the Intel Supplicant. - Select
[Start]and then[Control Panel](in[Control Panel Home]view). - Under
[Network and Internet], click on[Connect to the Internet].
- The "connect to the internet" panel should appear, double click on
[Wireless]
- On the "Select a network to connect to" screen, right click on
[Eduroam]and select[Properties]. (If you do not see the[Properties]option, go to the Alternative instructions).
- In the network name SSID enter
eduroamin lower case (SSIDs are case sensitive), selectEnterprise WPA2as the Network Authentication method andAESas the data encryption type. SelectProtected EAP (PEAP)instead of the default network authentication method then click on thesettingsbutton by the drop down menu you used to set PEAP
- In the PEAP Properties window check the box that says
Validate Server Certificate. Enterradius0.oucs.ox.ac.uk;radius1.oucs.ox.ac.ukin theConnect to these serverssection. InTrusted Root Certification AuthoritiesSelectAddTrust External CA Root. Uncheck the box that says "Do not prompt user..." , checkEnable Fast Reconnectand on the EAP-MSCHAP secured password option, click on theconfigurebutton. - Uncheck the box to use your windows credentials, then click
OKthrough each menu to save your changes and return to the desktop.
- Once near a eduroam access point, select the access point from the possible
connections. The first time you connect you'll be shown a server certificate
verification diagloue
- After this your login details must be entered to achieve full network usage. Enter
your Remote Access account
username followed by @ox.ac.uk (e.g
abcd1234@ox.ac.ukand your Remote Access account password (as set via https://register.oucs.ox.ac.uk/self/remote_access).
