1. Instructions

The following instructions apply to using the Eduroam wireless service on Microsoft Vista machines. A separate page offers instructions for Connecting to EDUROAM via Microsoft Vista with the Intel Supplicant.   1. Select [Start] and then [Control Panel] (in [Control Panel Home] view).
  2. Under [Network and Internet], click on [Connect to the Internet].

  3. The "connect to the internet" panel should appear, double click on [Wireless]

  4. On the "Select a network to connect to" screen, right click on [Eduroam] and select [Properties]. (If you do not see the [Properties] option, go to the Alternative instructions).

  5. In the network name SSID enter eduroam in lower case (SSIDs are case sensitive), select Enterprise WPA2 as the Network Authentication method and AES as the data encryption type. Select Protected EAP (PEAP) instead of the default network authentication method then click on the settings button by the drop down menu you used to set PEAP

  6. In the PEAP Properties window check the box that says Validate Server Certificate. Enter radius0.oucs.ox.ac.uk;radius1.oucs.ox.ac.uk in the Connect to these servers section. In Trusted Root Certification Authorities Select AddTrust External CA Root. Uncheck the box that says "Do not prompt user..." , check Enable Fast Reconnect and on the EAP-MSCHAP secured password option, click on the configure button.
  7. Uncheck the box to use your windows credentials, then click OK through each menu to save your changes and return to the desktop.

  8. Once near a eduroam access point, select the access point from the possible connections. The first time you connect you'll be shown a server certificate verification diagloue

  9. After this your login details must be entered to achieve full network usage. Enter your Remote Access account username followed by @ox.ac.uk (e.g abcd1234@ox.ac.ukand your Remote Access account password (as set via https://register.oucs.ox.ac.uk/self/remote_access).
