1. Introduction
The following instructions apply to using the Eduroam wireless service on Microsoft Windows 7 machines.
- Select
[Start]and then[Control Panel]. In the Control Panel, select[Network and internet]
- In the "Network and Internet" panel, click on
[Network and Sharing Centre]
- In the Network and Sharing centre, select
[Setup a New Connection or Network]
- Select
[Manually connect to a wireless network]
- On the manual configuration screen, the
Network Nameiseduroam,Security TypeisWPA2-Enterprise,Encryption TypeisAES. After typing these in, clickNext
- The next screen will say that the network has been configured. There are still more
settings however, so select
[Change Connection Settings]
- The inital screen should have the details filled in already, select the

[Security]tab and then next to the[Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP)]option, click on thesettingsbutton.

- In the PEAP Properties window check the box that says
Validate Server Certificate. - Enter
radius0.oucs.ox.ac.uk;radius1.oucs.ox.ac.ukin theConnect to these serverssection. - In
Trusted Root Certification AuthoritiesSelectAddTrust External CA Root. - Uncheck the box that says
Do not prompt user..., checkEnable Fast Reconnect - On the EAP-MSCHAP secured password option, click on the
configurebutton.
- In the PEAP Properties window check the box that says
- Uncheck the box to use your windows credentials, then click
OK.
- From the
Securitytab on theeduroam Wireless Network Propertiesscreen, click on theAdvanced Settingsbutton - On the
Advanced Settingsscreen click on the802.1X Settingstab and, from the pull-down menu select[User Authentication]then click onOK
- Select
OKto close all the various dialogue boxes - Select
Closeto close theManually connect to a wireless networkscreen. - Once near a eduroam access point, select the access point from the possible
connections. You should get an automatic information box which will give a login prompt
when selected

- After this your login details must be entered to achieve full network usage. Enter
your Remote Access account
username followed by @OX.AC.UK (here
unit0123@OX.AC.UK) and your Remote Access account password (Not your Single Sign-On one!).
