The first time you open Eudora, the New Account Wizard starts to help
you enter information you need to use Eudora with your Nexus email account. If you
have previously used Eudora, however, you can bring up the New Account
Wizard to add an Email Account by locating the Persona
area near the left of the Eudora window (below) and right-clicking on the white
space below your existing Dominant account, then selecting
[New] from the contextual menu.
On the Welcome screen, just click on Next.
The next window presents you with a range of options. You should choose Skip
directly to advanced account setup, as otherwise, your account will
initially be set up as a POP account, which would mean all messages are deleted from
the server and only accessible on your local machine. To avoid this, after selecting
Skip directly to advanced account setup, click
Finish.
You are then presented with the Generic Properties tab below. Enter
your name as you want it to appear in any emails you send in the field next to
Real Name, and your Email Address in the field
below.
User Name requires you to enter your Single Sign-On username as
provided by OUCS, in the format abcd1234. Next to SMTP
Server, enter smtp.ox.ac.uk.
You also need to change the[ Secure Sockets When Sending] dropdown box
to [Required, Start TLS]
Click on the Incoming Mail tab near the top to configure the
remaining settings.
In the field next to Server on the Incoming Mail tab,
enter imap.nexus.ox.ac.uk once again. Below, it offers you two
Configuration options, POP and
IMAP. You should select IMAP, as otherwise, your email
will no longer be accessible on the server.
From the [SecureSockets When Receiving] dropdown box, select
[Required, Start TLS].
In some instances you may also find that you need to check the Use submission
port (587) box before it works properly.
Click OK to save your changes.
When you first attempt to check your Nexus email using Eudora, you may see a certificate rejection message.
This should be signed in a chain ending with AddTrust External CA Root.
Click on Yes to accept the SSL Certificate. You
should be able to access your email without any further problems.
