If you
have not previously used Entourage, but have installed Microsoft Office on your Mac,
you can find Entourage by going to the Microsoft Office folder inside
the Applications folder. When you open Entourage for the first time,
it starts the Account Setup Assistant. However, you can later go
through the same process to add a Nexus account to your existing Entourage setup by
clicking on [Tools].
1. Adding your Nexus account using the Account Setup Assistant
Select [Accounts] at the bottom of the [Tools] drop-down menu. The Accounts window
opens; click on the arrow on the New icon and select [Exchange...] at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
This will start the Account Setup Assistant. The Account Setup Assistant will prompt you to enter your E-mail address. Important:
If you want to use the calendaring and other shared functions of the Oxford Nexus
service, you must also tick the box My account is on an Exchange
server.
You must then click on the Configure Account Manually button to
continue. Entourage Web Services will take you to the Edit Account window.
You will have to enter your Account Name - this is merely for display
on your computer, so choose what makes sense to you. In the figure above,
Oxford Nexus has been chosen. You will also have to enter your
Name as you want it to appear in the sender field, in the
example above Sherlock Holmes, your Nexus E-mail
address which will be of the form first.last@unit.ox.ac.uk
(sherlock.holmes@oucs.ox.ac.uk in the example above). Within the Authentication
section of the Window you will need to enter your Account
ID and Password. The Domain field should
be left blank.
The Account ID is your Single Sign-On username (aka your Oxford username) which is usually of the form
abcd1234, and the
password your Single Sign-On password. If you tick Save password in my Mac OS
keychain, you will not have to enter your password each time you use
Entourage, please note, however, that in this case, anyone who obtains physical
access to your computer will have access to all your email.
To complete the manual configuration, click
OK.
You should then see the following pop up asking whether the Nexus autodiscovery server should be allowed to set the configuration for this account:
On this screen tick Always use my response for this server and
then click the Allow.
This completes the configuration of Entourage Web Services to access Nexus and your account should now appear on the list of folders on the left, ready for you to use.
2. Editing account settings after the initial setup
If you need to configure other features in Entourage Web Services
go to [Tools] and [Accounts] as above, then
double-click the name of the account whose settings you would like to edit.
3. Where next?
If you have any problems, in the first instance you should contact your local (College or Department) IT staff. If they cannot help then please contact the OUCS Helpcentre for further assistance.
