There are three main ways that you can download software onto your phone if you are a Windows (XP/Vista/7) user, two if you are using another operating system.

1. Directly using your handset off the web:

Your handset can actually install software directly from it if you open up the web browser and either type in the address of the file or if you follow a link from a webpage or from an email.

This is by far the simplest way of doing this.

If you know where the file is, you can open Web (Menu --> Web)

Select Options --> Go to Web Address

Then type in the address of the file then press Go To

It will then automatically download and install the file, but it may ask you to press OK as it is installing it.

2. Having a PC/Laptop with Nokia PC Suite installed:

Equally simple. Installing the Nokia PC Suite is a rather painless task and can be done either from the CD's that came with your phone or from the link @ http://www.nokia.co.uk/get-support-and-software/download-software/main/download

Connect your handset to your computer via the USB cable. Ensure that Nokia PC Suite is running and it has detected the phone. If it asks you which mode to connect your handset to, select PC Suite. If it automatically connects incorrectly (i.e if it is set to automatically go into Mass Storage Mode, then on your handset from the Home Screen go to Menu --> Settings --> Connection --> USB, and ensure the Ask on Connection is set to Yes, then unplug the cable and reconnect it.

Download the file onto your machine then simply double click on it, Nokia PC Suite will transfer the file over to your phone and install it. Keep an eye on your phone however, as you may have to confirm the process.

Please note that Nokia PC Suite is only available for the PC and will not work on a Mac or Linux based systems.

3. Having a PC/Laptop without having Nokia PC Suite installed:

Connect your handset to your computer via the USB cable. If it asks you which mode to connect your handset to, select Mass Storage. If it automatically connects incorrectly (i.e if it is set to automatically go into PC Suite Mode, then on your handset from the Home Screen go to Menu --> Settings --> Connection --> USB, and ensure the Ask on Connection is set to Yes, then unplug the cable and reconnect it.

The phone will now appear as an extra drive in (My) Computer just like any other external hard drive. You can then download the file that you want to install directly onto your phone by either downloading it directly to your phone, or copying it over to it after it has been downloaded onto your machine.

On your phone from the Home Screen go to Menu --> Office --> File Mgr. Find the file that you have transferred over and then select it. It will start the installation process.
