1. First Time Configuration
- Before starting Outlook for the first time, you will need to setup a new
Profile. A profile is the place where account details, data files and information stating where your emails are stored is kept by Outlook. - After you have installed the Office product on your machine, select
Outlook 2010 from
[Start]>[All Programs]>[Microsoft Office]>[Outlook 2010] - Outlook 2010 will open and show the following opening dialogue box:
- Immediately Outlook prompts you to create a profile for your account:
Either accept the default offering of
Outlookor type in your own name for the account. ClickOKto continue - The
Account Wizardopens:Click on the
Nextbutton to continue - The
Email Accountsscreen opens. Select the[Yes]and click onNext
- The
Add New Accountsetup screen opens:You now need to add in the following information:
- Once you have added the account information the
Nextbutton will become clickable. Click on theNextbutton to start the auto-configuration of your account Outlook auto-discovery servicewill now search for your account details on Nexus:
- A warning box will appear asking if you will allow
autodiscover.nexuswebsite to configure your account. Click on theAllowbutton to continue
- A
loginbox now appears which is partially completed.However, the information shown will be wrong. You need to type in your
usernamein the form ofabcd1234@nexus.ox.ac.uk. Then type in yourOxford Account (Single Sign-on) password - The auto-discovery service will now access your details and once done will
show that the process has been successful:
- Click on the
Finishbutton to complete the wizard.
