1. First Time Configuration

  1. Before starting Outlook for the first time, you will need to setup a new Profile. A profile is the place where account details, data files and information stating where your emails are stored is kept by Outlook.
  2. After you have installed the Office product on your machine, select Outlook 2010 from [Start] > [All Programs] > [Microsoft Office] > [Outlook 2010]
  3. Outlook 2010 will open and show the following opening dialogue box:

  4. Immediately Outlook prompts you to create a profile for your account:

    Either accept the default offering of Outlook or type in your own name for the account. Click OK to continue

  5. The Account Wizard opens:
    Click on the Next button to continue
  6. The Email Accounts screen opens. Select the [Yes] and click on Next

  7. The Add New Account setup screen opens:

    You now need to add in the following information:
    • Your preferred name
    • Your email address
    • Your Oxford Account (Single Sign-on) password
  8. Once you have added the account information the Next button will become clickable. Click on the Next button to start the auto-configuration of your account
  9. Outlook auto-discovery service will now search for your account details on Nexus:

  10. A warning box will appear asking if you will allow autodiscover.nexus website to configure your account. Click on the Allow button to continue

  11. A login box now appears which is partially completed.

    However, the information shown will be wrong. You need to type in your username in the form of abcd1234@nexus.ox.ac.uk. Then type in your Oxford Account (Single Sign-on) password
  12. The auto-discovery service will now access your details and once done will show that the process has been successful:

  13. Click on the Finish button to complete the wizard.
