Getting Started With Outlook Web Access
1. Introduction
1.1. About This Introduction
The purpose of this Introduction is to help you to use the Outlook Web Access interface to the Oxford University email system, Nexus. Further information on using Outlook Web Access can be found in the more comprehensive Outlook Web Access guide, but please read this first!
1.2. What is Nexus?
Nexus is an email storage and management system, based on the Microsoft Exchange System. To access your email messages stored on Nexus, send messages, and so on, you need an email client. An email client is a computer application that allows you to send messages, receive messages, save messages, etc. Many different clients are available to use with Nexus including Outlook Web Access (OWA), Outlook Express, Eudora, Pine, Mozilla, and any other IMAP mail client.
Wherever you access your messages from, and whatever client you use, you will always see the same messages and folders, although the appearance will be somewhat different on each client.
This guide provides an outline of how to get started with using Outlook Web Access to access your Oxford University email.
1.3. What is Outlook Web Access?
Outlook Web Access (OWA) is an email client based around a standard web browser such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla. You can access your Nexus email and calendar via OWA anywhere you can access the web. For example, from your college, department, an Internet cafe, Internet terminal, a library, another university, or your home computer.
The URL for OWA is: https://nexus.ox.ac.uk/owa (Note the s in https)
