1. Background

OUCS tries to keep its list of units of the university as close as possible to the University Organization Chart (e.g. it is not sensible to have an email domain of @radiology when there is not a Radiology Department). Likewise, the University Card office tries to keep in line with the University Organization Chart.

The Application form for unit 'status' can be found on the University Organization Chart web page, as well as the application form for .ox.ac.uk email address domains.

There are however certain subsections of Departments or research centres which for historical reasons are no longer found on the University Tree. There are circumstances where an email domain is still appropriate, e.g. the unit still exists but is now part of another unit.

2. Anomalies

The following units are not on the University Organization Chart but as far as we know are still valid units within the University and may or may not have University Card codes and but we currently retain the email domains.
