The Microsoft Campus Rental Agreement was renewed for a further 3 years on 1st August 2006. Details of this agreement, which allows departments and colleges to run selected Microsoft Products, funded centrally under the terms of a Campus 3.4 agreement, can be seen at:
The list of Microsoft Products that are available to you remain unchanged; although as previously noted Frontpage and Publisher are no longer be available for installation as stand-alone products, only as part of an Office Program Suite.
You should also note that if any of the products are used under the terms of "work at home" then installation media and licencesfor new implementations must be obtained via the Computing Services Shop. Volume Licence Keyed media must not be taken home for this type of installation.
OUCS has obtained a licence for the use of the Oxygen XML Editor, due to the cost required to satisfy individual licence numbers, OUCS has taken out a site licence which can be used by all staff members.
The Adobe CLP agreement has been renewed for a further 2 years from 1st October 2006, this enables Adobe and Macromedia products to be distributed via the Computing Services Shop. As previously these products are only avaialble for use on University owned machines.
Students are currently offered copies of Maple free of charge, this is funded via an annual add-on rental payment, funded centrally, to the site licence for Maple which is itself funded by departmental and college contribution.
Those colleges and departments whose students make use of Maple are thus encouraged to join the shared Maple licence, which would allow you to use Maple on your college and department owned computers either strand-alone or via a network.

The annual rental agreement for Minitab runs from 1st January each year, however we must sign a renewal with the next few weeks. Existing subscribers will be contacted directly to accertain their requirements for 2007.

Following financial support from the Oxford Supercomputing Centre together with the departments of Chemistry, Maths, Engineering, Earth Science and Physics; the NAG Serial Libraries agreement can now be used by all Members of the University.
We have been advised by a colleague in the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit of a problem using the "select" statement within SPSS. This bug is corrected by application of the 14.0.2 patch, which can be downloaded from the SPSS technical support site.
Following a request from one of our departmetal users, Adept Scientific who supply us with Endnote, have arranged for a free trial to take place of WriteNote, their web based research and writing tool.
