The Academic Typesetting Service
1. Introduction
The typesetting service is based around a Monotype PrePRESS Panther Pro PostScript-based imagesetter which is able to reproduce both text and graphics. Output is offered on film at a resolution of up to 3048 dpi. Output is default, as a film positive, emulsion side down. The typesetting service is open to all members of the University with a card. (commonly used for the production of Printed Circuit Board templates)
The PrePRESS Panther Pro is a high resolution device that supports an output media width of 338mm; in typesetting terms this implies that it can typeset an A3 page with crop marks. It's resolution of 3048 dots per inch makes it is well suited to the production of four colour separations at up to 300 lines per inch. The Panther only accepts files in PostScript form, but we can create postscript from some graphics applications. Coreldraw for example. For details of turnover please contact ops@oucs.ox.ac.uk. Payment in advance using the Online Shop.
