8. Migrating Content

We would like to take this opportunity remind you that it is up to the individual departments to move their material out of the old system into the new one. Tools in old WebLearn are provided to create ZIP files of all material which can be uploaded into the new system and unzipped.

Our research has shown that the vast majority of users intend to review their material and reorganise as part of the move. OUCS is very keen to speak to departments before they begin migration; we would like to offer advice on best practice – it is almost certain that the structure of material should be far simpler in the new service and there should be far less 'sites' that there were 'rooms' in the old system.

There is a useful WebLearn blog post which presents a succinct summary of the migration process.

If you are thinking of migrating your content then please contact weblearn@oucs.ox.ac.uk.
