| Notes | Part of a Typescript of 'The Patchwork Flag', which included 38 examples of war and children's verses, with Robert Graves' manuscript corrections. Compiled with Nancy Nicholson. Sent also to Edward Marsh. Contains one two-sided leaf of a manuscript comments by Siegfried Sassoon, dated 21st August (1918) Not published after Graves received criticism both from Sassoon And Robert Ross. The Voice of Beauty Drowned' is the fifth of six poems in 'Country Sentiment' that appeared in November 1919 in 'Georgian Poetry 1918-1919'. Edward Marsh, the editor, wrote to Graves with a number of corrections, but his letter arrived after Graves' had already returned the final proofs. See Graves, B. and Ward, D.
