Return
RETURN by ROBERT GRAVES
'Farewell,' the Corporal cried, 'La Bassée trenches! No Cambrins for me now, no more Givenchies, And no more bloody brickstacks---God Almighty, I'm back again at last to dear old Blighty.'
But cushy wounds don't last a man too long, And now, poor lad, he sings this bitter song: 'Back to La Bassée, to the same old hell, Givenchy, Cuinchey, Cambrin, Loos, Vermelles.'
