| Notes | Manuscript in pencil in Ivor Gurney's hand. Continuation of 'Mangle-Hoeing' [later titled 'Interval'], here dated 'St Albans / August 1918'. This poem was included in a letter of 27th August to Marion Scott. 'From the Window' was included in a letter to John Haines received 11 September 1918. Included in 'War's Embers' (1919). Written while Gurney was a patient at the Middlesex War Hospital. Found in a coverless notebook used by Gurney from late August to mid-September 1918. |
