| Notes | This is the official acknowledgement that Pte. L. Green is after all alive and, as he wryly told me, when they put him back on the payroll. (He had been Missing in Action since March 23rd and officially declared dead - twice - since then, so he was due for about six month's back pay which, he told me, took some six months to recover!) Note the bureaucratic way they ask his father to cancel AFB 104/82 without giving instructions in this arcane procedure! Editor's Comment: Pte. 316448 Leonard E. Green, 1/5th Bn. Northumberland Fusiliers, was reported Missing in Action on 23rd March 1918 and officially declared dead, twice, before his status as a Prisoner of War was confirmed. |
