| Title | Photo of Thomas Humphrey Powell, South Wales Borderers |
| Notes | Photograph of Thomas Humphrey Powell taken in Brecon. Born 1870 he was a sergeant major (CSM?) in the South Wales Borderers. He went out with the BEF in August 1914 with the 1st battalion South Wales Borderers. He died circa 1916 as a result of wounds, aged about 46. This photograph appears to be from before the War. Humphrey was the brother of William Powell, father of Walter Powell. Another of Walter's uncles - Uncle Walter - born 1874, served as a Private in the King's Royal Rifles (Rifle Brigade). Walter's notes include Walter Powell in his recollections of his family and the war as Uncle Walter died of wounds in Kandia, Crete, however his date of death in other notes is recorded as 9 November 1898. |
