Welsh Guards, informing William Owen's mother that her son had been killed by a Shell that fell on his bivouac while he slept. Private 3134 William William Owen, 1st Bn. Welsh Guards, was killed in action 20th September 1917, aged 41. The husband of Asneth Owen, of Pembroke House, Penygroes, Carnarvonshire, he is buried in Canada Farm Cemetery. The 1st Bn., part of the Guards Division, was taking part in the Battle of the Menin Road, third phase of the Third Battle of Ypres. |
