NotesFrank Dowdeswell is seated on the bench with another soldier standing, both are wearing the cap badge of the Buffs regiment, and their Victory medal 1914-1919. After the First World War Frank served with the British army in Ireland and witnessed the fighting/civil war there. Frank was the father of Pam Hyett. He was known to his family as 'Curly', because of his hair.

Part of a collection relating to the service of Frank (7th Buffs) and Bob (Army Service Corps) Dowdeswell, of Shaw Green, Prestbury, nr Cheltenham. Bob died in April 1917 after a lorry accident.
