| Title | Plains North of Béthune; Cambrin Church; Primitive Research Line: From Edmund Blunden's Minute Book. |
| Notes | Photographs of the plains and farmlands north of Bethune, taken in 1918 by T Armstrong. Edmund Blunden notes that this was where he 'joined the Bn. in May 1916'; Cambrin Church, taken in August 1915, where the battalion paused in June 1916; and a postcard of what Edmund calls a 'Primative reserve line, and usual sceney' north of the La Bassée canal. The book was compiled by Blunden with the intention of providing complementary photographs supporting the narrative and poems of 'Undertones of War' (1928), and was inscribed 'E.B. New Year, 1935' while Blunden was living in North Oxford, a neighbour of Graham Greene. |
