NotesRough sketch shown to the Committee of the Mametz Wood Memorial Fund by the sculptor David Petersen prior to the creation of the Welsh Dragon Memorial which was dedicated on 11th July 1987. The Welsh Dragon Memorial commemorates the attacks on Mametz wood by the Welsh battalions in the period 7th to 12th July 1916, (during the Battle of the Somme).
