The Battle of the Somme is an online exhibition from the Imperial War Museum, focusing on: the battle; its context within the First World War as a whole; and the impact it had on the lives of those involved. Part of a GCSE history project on WWI at Tideway School (Newhaven, Sussex), the site is a record of research carried out by students and teachers about the battlefields of the Western Front, many of which have been visited by the staff and pupils of the school. The Greenfield History site is a large online resource of information and teaching materials relating to the First World War. Produced and edited by John D. Clare, a widely published history teacher, the site includes beautifully produced information, images and resources on a number of WWI events and topics including: the Treaty of Versailles; the League of Nations; the causes of WWI; and the role of Russia in the war.
