Trench Life: Conditions in the Trenches
Page details
Conditions in the Trenches
The conditions faced by the men varied. In some sectors it was quite, with little action, and the trenches were dry and secure. Other sectors saw considerable combat, and trenches were waterlogged. Most of the trenches were plagued by rats, and the men were infested with lice, and where there had been a recent battle the dead littered the area.
Here there is a series of interviews with Percy Webb who served on the Western Front. He describes conditions in the trenches, latrines, rats, the daily routine, and so on.
