| Notes | Letter opener, (knife made from bullets and scrap metal). Made by my uncle, Sid Roberts, who was in the East Surrey's. Gassed twice and returned to another regiment, probably the Engineers. Think he was a sergeant at the end of the war. Being gassed saved his life as rest of his comrades were all killed! Possibly an Old Contemptible, as a lot of them were at his funeral. |
