| Notes | The photographs of tank are from a model made by a German POW and presented to my Grandfather as a present. Captain Thomas J. Costello MC of the Royal Artillery Medical Corps was stationed at Trouville No.4, Convalescent Department in the South of France in 1919 where he was given the model tank. Also enclosed are pictures of his suitcase made for him with his monograph in Manchester around 1918. Thomas Joseph Costello. Born June 10th 1890 died at 55 years of age, March 1945. Born in Dublin to John Costello and Rose Callaghan. Probably educated like his brother John Aloysius (Taoiseach) in O'Connell Schools, Richmond street by the Christian brothers. From co. Clare Barefield. Married June 8th 1917. Captain in Royal Army Medical core Artillery E.Lancs regiment. Awarded the Military Cross for riding out into No Mans Land to administer to wounded. He was gassed which was probably the reason for early death. Worked in French POW camp where he received the tank (photos attached).
