| Notes | A group photograph of officers and men wearing crossed machine gun capbadges. This may date from Pte. Fosters service with the Motor Section, Machine gun Corps, or the early tank units, known as Heavy Section / Heavy Branch Machine Gun Corps until July 1917. Note that the officer seated with the dog appears to be wearing a mouring band on his left sleeve. Pte. 200816 William Ernest Foster, D Coy. Heavy Section, Machine Gun Corps (later D Bn.
