Editor's Comment:
First hand account of the Battle of Loos, 25th - 28th September 1915. Among many items of interest, Pte. Thomas recounts being shelled with gas, only to find the eyepiece of his new gas helmet broken. From mention of his taking part in an attack of 'D Coy of the 23rd.', and later, the '47th Division', it seems that he served in the 1/23rd (City of London) Battalion, London Regiment.
