| Notes | Lt C. E. Carr, 20th London Regiment (my grandfather) was taken prisoner south of St Quentin on March 23rd 1918. This is an image of his letter to his fiancée Connie Barry, 31st March 1918, plus an image of a transcript. Editor's Comment: Written on headed notepaper: 'Absender : | Kriegsgefangenensendung 2nd Lieut C E Carr 3rd London Regiment | Festungs Jazerett 1 | Abteilung..... Stube..... | Offiziergefangenenlager Mainz.' Second Lieutenant Charles E. Carr, 20th (Blackheath and Woolwich) bN. London Regiment, began the war as a Private in the 16th (Queen's Westminster Rifles) Bn. London Regiment (Service no. 3278, later 550880). |
