| Title | Joseph Vaghi letters home |
| Notes | Joseph Vaghi was my great uncle, he lied about his age to join up so although he is listed as 18 on his death he was probably only 17. He came to Scotland in 1904 from Milan and his family were 'naturalised' in 1911. Consequently they were not interned in the 2nd World War. These letters were sent to his mother Henrichetta A school group from Linlithgow academy travelled to Gallipoli and brought back a photo of Joseph's grave. I also remember my Granny talking about the Gretna rail disaster, she knew many of the boys from Leith who died. |
