Operations carried out by 'B' and 'C' Companies, 1st Bn. Royal Scots Fusiliers, 18th-20th August 1916, in the Battle of Guillemont, part of the Battle of the Somme.

Second Lieutenant (acting Lieutenant Colonel) William James Cranston DSO, Royal Scots Fusiliers and Staff, served additionally in the North Staffordshire Regiment and commanded the 13th Bn. King's Liverpool Regiment and 3rd Bn. Machine Gun Corps.
