| Title | The King's message of sympathy, sent to Leonard Green's parents |
| Notes | This was the official message of sympathy received by all bereaved families. Despite earlier hopeful signs that their son was alive, it must have come as a devastating blow since if the King thinks you're dead it's likely to be true since, among others, it's him you're fighting for! Editor's Comment: Pte. 316448 Leonard E. Green, 1/5th Bn. Northumberland Fusiliers, was reported Missing in Action on 23rd March 1918 and officially declared dead, twice, before his status as a Prisoner of War was confirmed. |
