Outbreak of War
Since the issue of our last ‘Quarterly Statement,’ the outbreak of war has considerably affected philanthropy generally in this country, the interest taken by the public in naval and military operations having naturally placed almost all other subjects in the background, and the appeals for funds with which to relieve the sufferings of our gallant defenders and their dependent relatives being numerous and responded to in a highly gratifying manner.
