| Notes | Front cover of the Sunday Pictorial from April 1918. The right hand column, headed War Heroes, has three photographs of people awarded decorations at an Investiture at Buckingham Palace. The middle one of the three is captioned Captain Culling [sic], D.S.C., for submarine fights. Also featured are Lieutenant-Colonel Carter, whose disclosures with regard to the Mesopotamia expedition created a considerable sensation less than a year ago and Sister King... and Sister Alexander, both M.M. The rest of the page is devoted to pictures of a rally held by the Land Army to recruit new members, under the title The Women Haymakers in the Haymarket. Part of a collection relating to James Cullen. |
