Applied to join the army December 1914
Began officer training in January 1915 in Stirling
Joined the 11th Battalion of The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) in the Bristol area for further training February 1915
Crossed to France 3/4th October 1915 from Folkestone
Joined the 9th Battalion and served on the Ypres Salient October to December 1915
Joined the Machine Gun Corps January 1916
After training served in the 28 Machine Gun Company (9th Division) in the area north –east of Armentieres – Le Bizet/Grand Rabeque/Le Touquet
Wounded in the abdomen at Le Touquet Railway Station (the British Front Line)
23 April 1916
Evacuated to Casualty Clearing Station No2 in Bailleul for operation
Died: 24 April 1916, 3.05pm, aged 19 years old. He is buried in Bailleul British Military Cemetery 25 April 1916
